‘Wonderful support… and a really good recovery’

This is just a quick note to thank Mr Bell for the wonderful support he has given our son, Jack, this year, and to provide a brief update on progress.

As you know, Jack (who is 16) is a keen sportsman, but suffered quite a bad injury to his left knee whilst playing football in January this year.   He was referred to Mr Bell who promptly diagnosed a bucket handle meniscal tear and recommended surgery, which was very quickly arranged and carried out at the Parkside.

Since then, Jack has made a really good recovery, with the help of an excellent physiotherapist, Ben Wilde.  He is now back on the football pitch and, last week, played his first full match since his injury – with the attached picture showing Mr Bell’s handiwork in action for Hampton School 1st XI!

As things stand, the prognosis looks really encouraging.  That is very much thanks to Mr Bell’s experience and excellence as a surgeon, although, that said, we found his very thoughtful, positive but realistic approach at least as impressive and valuable.  His advice and recommendations throughout were extremely clear and straightforward, and that gave all of us a lot of encouragement and confidence.

Anyway, please do pass on thanks to Mr Bell for his help, engagement and expertise.  We would happily recommend him to anyone!

‘Back to scoring the winning goal!’

Phoebe is back to hockey, almost wholeheartedly, scoring the winning goal of a long tournament last week! She is sailing well. I was nervous about it but yesterday she played squash for school for the first time and won all her matches. All being well she will take her hockey to a regional level in November and she is booked on a tour to Holland in March. She has re-joined a weekly tennis group and we will see how that goes. Thankfully she has remembered to factor in the rest days too.

Long may it continue!
